U.S. Open Results

After a dominating performance through all four rounds, young Rory McIlroy is the 2011 U.S. Open Champion making Northen Ireland the home of back-to-back U.S. Open Champions.

25 of our pool participants had Rory as one of their squad for this week and that will net them each $1.44 million in earnings for this win.

This week's winner is Loyd Davis with total earnings of $2,609,871.  Mr. Davis put together a solid crew this week with McIlroy, Day, Garcia and Johnson.  That vaults him from the 77th spot all the way to the number 8 spot.  Your entry fee is on the way via PayPal Mr. Davis.  Congrats on a great week.

Our overall leader is Hill Shands who also had a solid Open.  Hill picked back-to-back tournament winners the for the past two events (very rare feat).  Remember that the top 7 spots will pay out as follows.  There's still two events to make up some ground.

1st Place ---------------------------$1,217
2nd Place -------------------------$845
3rd Place --------------------------$507
4th Place --------------------------$304
5th Place --------------------------$237
6th Place --------------------------$169
7th Place --------------------------$101

As always, please double-check your totals to ensure they are accurate.  Final results and earnings can be found here: http://scores.espn.go.com/golf/leaderboard

The British Open is only 4 weeks away and we only have two tournaments left.  Start thinking about how you want to play these last two events.  Some of us have some major catching up to do.  Like last year, I will award the person in dead last at the end of the season exemption into the 2012 Majors Pool.  To qualify, you must have submitted golfers for each of the 5 events.

I will send out an email a week prior to the British.

U.S. Open Leaderboard update thru 54

It appears that Rory has it on cruise control right now sitting on a 8 shot lead heading into the final round.  He's playing lights out right now.  If you're like me and did not choose Rory this week, you're rooting for him to repeat his previous majors meltdowns.  If he does hold out, 25 participants stand to pocket at least $1.35 million this weekend.  Come on Yang!

The leaderboard has been updated through 54 holes.  Once again, this is a cumulative score total for your players that make the cut.  This leaderboard can be deceiving since our pool is measured on earnings and not scoring, which can be quite different.  Check the US Open link to see individual player results

I've also added the overall majors pool rank so you can get an idea who has the potential to move up or down the rankings.

Good luck tomorrow.

US Open Picks Posted

My apologies to everyone for shortening up your time to get your picks in.  I also apologize for posting picks an hour after I originally stated but there are always procrastinators that wait until the last minute.

This week's overwhelming favorite is Steve Stricker (48 players) followed by Lee Westwood (33), Dustin Johnson (31) and K.J. Choi (29).  To see the rest of the breakdown, scroll to the bottom of the U.S. Open link to see the graph.

As always, please double-check your picks to make sure they are correct.

I will not be able to update the leaderboard Thursday or Friday but will do so Saturday and Sunday so check back for updates.

Good luck everyone.

Please start thinking about your picks becuase your window to submit golfers for the U.S. Open will only be a 48 hour period.
